Carbon Working Group

The Carbon Working Group (CWG) has been set up, and is led, by Keith McCabe of Atkins, to act as a focus for ITS (UK) Members who are working in the area of carbon reduction and climate change.  ITS technologies have a lot to offer in terms of reducing the carbon output of surface transport.  Traffic management and co-operative vehicle highways systems (CVHS) offer the potential of reducing emissions by changing the behaviour of traffic and of individual drivers.  Information and security systems can assist in modal shift by offering full information about alternative ways of making a journey, and by making public transport journeys safer both in actuality and in the way they are perceived.

You can get directly involved by joining the collaboration group on the Transport Knowledge Transfer Network.

Keith McCabe is assisted by Honorary Secretary Ian Routledge of the Ian Routledge Consultancy, and KTN Liaison Tessa Darley of innovITS.
