ITS (UK) Foundation Members Amey hosted the seventeenth Annual General Meeting of the society in Birmingham on 3 June. Members reflected on the successes of the past year, particularly the ITS (UK) stand at the 2009 World Congress in Stockholm, and considered how best to steer the society into the next few years of public financial austerity.

The ITS (UK) Road User Charging Interest Group, one of the fourteen Interest Groups run by the intelligent transport society, has elected a new Chairman in Keith Mortimer of Wyeval Ltd. Keith has been the Honorary Secretary of the Group since its inception in 2003, and takes over from Andrew Pickford who founded the Group.

ITS United Kingdom, the UK society for all who work in the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) sector, has published the ITS (UK) strategy to support carbon reduction and to address climate change issues. The strategy has been developed by the ITS (UK) Carbon Working Group, which was set up in 2009 as a subgroup of the long established ITS (UK) Smart Environment Interest Group. The CWG is led by Keith McCabe of ITS (UK) Foundation Members Atkins. Keith is also the main author of the strategy document.

ITS (UK), the Intelligent Transport Society for the United Kingdom, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ITS Russia.
Phil Rowley of ITS (UK) Foundation Members WSP Group, took the opportunity of a recent meeting to sign an MoU with Boris Tsiklis, Chairman of the ITS Russia Supervisory Board.
ITS (UK) and ITS Russia look forward to co-operating in sharing information and facilitating contacts between ITS professionals in both countries.

ITS (UK), the Intelligent Transport Society for the United Kingdom, has made five Awards for excellence in ITS:
The Hills Rees annual award for personal contribution has been given to Richard Harris of Logica (pictured with Steven Norris).
The young ITS professional of the year award was made to Peter Routledge of IRC.
The Scheme of the year award went to Transport for London for the London Congestion Analysis Project (LCAP)
Two Forward Thinking awards for innovation were made:-
to David Bradbrook of the Highways Agency for the National Roads Telecommunications Services Contract
and to Transport for London for the London CVIS (Co-operative Vehicle Infrastructure Systems) Trial
The awards are open to any organisation or individual with a UK business office and that has a significant UK telematics or other ITS content.
The nominations were judged by an eminent panel of ITS professionals chaired by ITS (UK) President and former Transport Minister, Steven Norris. The Panel Members were:-
