Full house at the ITS United Kingdom and Scottish Development International exhibition stand at the 2008 Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress in New York

SDI and ITS (UK) hosted a 200 m2 stand in the exhibition alongside the 2008 ITS World Congress at the Javits Centre in New York 17-20 November. The stand functioned as a pavilion showcase for 23 UK ITS organisations

ITS United Kingdom Local Authority / Urban Interest Group elects new leaders

The ITS (UK) Interest Group which caters for Local Authorities and their suppliers has elected a new Chairman and a new Honorary Secretary. Steve George of Efkon UK has been elected Chairman of the LAUIG, the forum within ITS (UK) for Local Authority personnel and for their suppliers and consultants. Dave Stoner of Tenet Technology was elected as the new Honorary Secretary. The previous post-holders, Gary Umpleby of Mott MacDonald and Jem McCluskey of Scott Wilson, had both stepped down after changes in jobs. Both Steve and Dave have long experience in the use of Intelligent Transport Systems for local authorities. New forum for women in the Intelligent Transport Systems sector

ITS United Kingdom, the intelligent transport society for the UK, has launched an initiative for women working in the Intelligent Transport Systems sector – WITS, Women in ITS, is a new group dedicated to securing the needs of women in the UK ITS sector, to promoting ITS as a career option, and to ensuring that the needs of women are taken into account when ITS policy and strategy are set. Changes on the Council of ITS United Kingdom

ITS United Kingdom, the Intelligent Transport Society for the United Kingdom, held its AGM in May and elected new Officers to serve for 2008/09. While Professor Eric Sampson CBE, of Newcastle University, was re-elected as Chairman for a second year, several changes occurred in other positions on the ITS (UK) Council.
