Full house at the ITS United Kingdom and Scottish Development International exhibition stand at the 2008 Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress in New York

SDI and ITS (UK) hosted a 200 m2 stand in the exhibition alongside the 2008 ITS World Congress at the Javits Centre in New York 17-20 November.
The stand functioned as a pavilion showcase for 23 UK ITS organisations: Aberdeen University, Arup, Atkins, Bitwise R.T, Capita Symonds, Department for Transport, Emtelle, Essential Viewing, Findlay Irvine, Highways Agency, IBI Group, innovITS, ITIS UK, Mott MacDonald, Mouchel, Napier University, Roads Service Northern Ireland, Strathclyde University, Techspan Systems, Traffic Wales, Transport for London, Transport Scotland and TRL.
The four days of the exhibition were very busy for the UK stand, with standing room only for visitors, both established contacts and new colleagues. SDI sponsored a whisky tasting at the end of one of the days, which brought an extra influx of interested foreign colleagues, and Arup hosted a reception in honour of the ITS (UK) Smart Environment Interest Group, to mark its very well attended Special Session in the Congress programme.
Jennie Martin, Secretary General of ITS (UK) said: “The collaboration between SDI and ourselves meant a larger stand and more visibility for all our exhibitors. In one of the Executive Sessions at the Congress, a Transport Canada spokesperson said that “UK is a wonderful lesson to the rest of the World of the benefits that delivering ITS can bring. ” What an excellent endorsement of the message we were communicating at our stand.”
Allan Currie, International Director, Scottish Development International said
“The nine organisations from Scotland were represented at the World Congress gave delegates an insight into the knowledge and expertise we have, in Scotland, to support activity in this important sector. We are delighted with the success of the event and look forward to this continuing in the future.”
